Startup Advice

Someone who is working on her first startup asked for startup advice.

Here is what my advice to them is.

Run a tight ship. Save money for growth. Stop wastage of time and capital at all costs because

Find Your People. You can’t build a startup alone. Alone you are a freelancer. There is nothing bad about it. Infact being a successful freelancer can be very lucrative.

But it is different from being a founder, an entrepreneur and running a startup. An entrepreneur is someone who creates a machine consisting of people and processes and through them she offers value (in form of product or services) and captures value (in form of profits).

A smart entrepreneur works on the business and not in the business. So be smart. Start alone, but as you move ahead – find people to support your vision. This is one of the most important things you can do for your startup.

Let the market guide you. Because the market never lies. If the market is paying you consistently that means there is value in what you are selling.

Learn to sell. It is one of the best things you’d do for your business, even if you don’t do it later.

Eat clean. It is more important that one thinks. When you eat clean, you feel light and healthy and you think clearly. You get more done in a day, working the same hours as others.

By implementing these 5 ideas you’ll increase your chances of startup success.
