For starters BarCamp is an ad hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.
BarCamps in India
It all started with BarCampDelhi on 4th March. It was BarCamp’s first foray in Asia. BarCampDelhi set the tone for other BarCamps in India which were to follow suit.
BarCampChennai on 8th and 9th April, BarCampHyderabad on 8th April witnessed some cool discussion happening on technologies that make web 2.0 and next generation internet. These camps have proved to be the potential launch pad for some exciting products and services coming out of Indian grey-cells.
BarCampBangalore is next on the block. It is scheduled for April 22nd.
Close on heels is BarCampMumbai which is tentatively scheduled for May 13th. BarCampPune has also gone on air (oops…online).
Though BarCamps are not limited to technology. But all Camps in India have stuck to Web2.o as the core theme so far. One reason for this is the involvement of blogging community in India which has been the main driver of these Camps.
This is just the beggining and i can see Camps focussed on publishing, entertainment, education and what not… being triggered sooner than later.
Hail BarCamp !
